Power Providers is currently looking for a Sales Engineer to join the Power Providers sales team. We are inviting applicants from both Tanzania as well as abroad.

The position

The Sales Engineer will be part of our sales & marketing team. As a Sales Engineer you will engage with our potential clients and work together on the process of data collection, data analysis, design requirements and quotation. Your focus would be on our larger systems (think about a dollar value of individual systems between $20.000  and $200.000).

Examples of the typical clients for our larger systems are an off-grid lodge which wants to decrease their generator runtime by using solar power or a hospital which wants a backup system to prevent the frequent power outages.   

You will need to have/gain a good technical understanding of the systems we install:

  • Solar Power Systems
  • Solar Water Heating
  • Solar Water Pumping
  • Back-up Systems
  • Generators

The job will involve significant amount of travel to the sites of our clients (which are luxury lodges, however, also remote hospitals). You are also expected to be networking at conferences/events, build upon our existing relationships as well as developing new relationships.

Aside from engaging with potential clients you are also expected to stay involved in the whole process from moment of initial contact to final payment after installation. As such this job involves interaction with our design engineer and our logistics, accounts and operations departments.

 

Requirements

Power Providers is looking for a Solar Engineer with sound experience with the design and installation of off-grid solar power systems

  • Several years of experience in sales, design or installation of commercial scale off-grid solar power systems
  • At least a bachelor degree in engineering or a related qualification
  • Being a natural networker with good interpersonal skills
  • Able to report digitally in a structured and timely manne
  • Good knowledge and skills in Microsoft Excel / Microsoft Word
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • A driving license

People with the following qualifications get bonus points:

  • An established network of potential clients
  • Experience with sales/design of generators and solar water heaters
  • Good spoken and written Swahili
